***** Fun Biting Into This One       By Rox Burkey

Author Wendy Jayne delivers this paranormal short story in the 2078 era of the Vampire Accord. It is a fast and furious time of vampires, robots, and humans with a Hollywood backdrop.

Imagination, mystery, and intrigue start at page one and continues with well-developed characters of all types. I especially enjoyed Madeson who is hunting for a killer. Not only does this quest put her at risk, but also tests her skills as a PI.  She looks for information everywhere, such as her questioning methods below.

“He snatched up the one with pink sprinkles, and while he munched his way through the rainbow-hued goodies, I plied him for information.

“What’s the rundown on Azura? Is Gideon in custody, too?”

He shook his head. ‘Nah, I think vampires are part Teflon. Nothing ever sticks. The word came hard and fast from upstairs that Gideon wasn’t to be detained even though he was alone with Venice at the time of death. They brought Azura in purely for the theatrics. Her alibi is rock solid. She wasn’t even in the vicinity. The coroner is gonna rule accidental death because Venice’s blood alcohol level was off the charts.”

“Did the morgue examiner find any bite marks?”

“Not if he wanted to keep his job. Sheesh, most of the top brass are vampire-lovers.”

This non-typical vampire story does make one think and image the possibilities. This action packed story is a short read that ends too quickly. I wanted more. The twists and turns kept the excitement level of high.  I highly recommend this story to lovers of paranormal, short reads, and fans of Wendy Jayne.
