***** Memorable paranormal mystery     —–    Review by Rox Burkey

‘The Hill of Sacrificed Souls,’ Magnolia Bluff Crime Chronicles, book 35, is an electrifying addition that seamlessly blends mystery with the paranormal. Set against the backdrop of the picturesque Texas Hill Country, the story kicks off with the unsettling disappearance of a beloved local paramedic. Detective Carpenter from the Austin Missing Persons Unit finds disturbing parallels to a past case, raising alarm bells about the possibility of a serial killer or something more sinister lurking in Magnolia Bluff.

The narrative captivates readers with its intense atmosphere, especially when a ritualistic murder unfolds atop a stone altar—a chilling event that shocks the tight-knit community known for its surprisingly high crime rates. Returning beloved characters, Mike and Maureen Donovan, seasoned ghost hunters from Florida, add an exciting layer of intrigue. Maureen receives a poignant message from the spirit of the victim, Eliana Espinosa, compelling them to rush to Texas to assist in unraveling the complex mystery. As the Donovan team collaborates with local law enforcement and paranormal investigators, the plot thickens with tension and suspense. They must navigate the complexities of both the living and the supernatural as they strive to unveil the truth and prevent further tragedy.

RC & JP Carter’s richly developed characters make it easy for readers to become invested in their fates, while the balance of authentic paranormal elements enhances the story’s credibility. Overall, ‘The Hill of Sacrificed Souls’ is a captivating whodunit that keeps readers on the edge of their seats. The intertwining of the physical and ghostly realms not only provides an engaging narrative but also emphasizes the interconnectedness of these worlds in times of crisis. This story offers an engaging reading experience for anyone who loves a compelling murder mystery infused with paranormal elements. Perfect for summer readers, offering a satisfying, immersive experience you’ll find lingering long after the last page. Don’t miss this one or any in this incomparable series. Exceptional!
