Review by Rox Burkey — ***** Superb Cozy with a splash of paranormal
Cindy Davis returns Bliss and Diablo, her evidence-gathering Toucan, to Magnolia Bluff to help with the Doyle family Easter party. One featured event during the celebration is a live performance by Loco-Motion, a favorite band. The festivities are in full swing, with great food, drinks, and music. When Nina Warren steps into center stage with her guitar to sing, the first note sends unplanned sparks flying. Nina is electrocuted and dies. The crowd is stunned, and Bliss finds herself smack in the middle of another murder to solve.
Picturesque Magnolia Bluff is the perfect setting for this mystery as readers are brought into the community, hopefully to find the culprit. Each realistic character has a key role as the case unfolds. Police Chief Tommy Jager is frustrated and at a loss for clues. Diablo keeps things lively as he adds some unexpected evidence. Bliss teases the meaning of the songs playing in her head as she follows the clues and places herself in harm’s way. A complex whodunit with a killer on the loose help pages keep turning—you’ll hardly stop to breathe.
The unexpected twists and turns keep readers on their toes in this superbly crafted cozy mystery. Fans of Magnolia Bluff will hope Bliss stays to share her favorite pizza, keep Diablo by her side, and match wits with Chief Jager. Each story in the exciting Magnolia Bluff Crime Chronicles is a standalone that is delivered by an array of talented authors. Only The Good Die Young is no exception. The paranormal twist of this story makes it a winner.
