Jake is desperate to rewrite his past with women and leave behind the media storm surrounding his off-the-field antics that cloud his potential. He desperately wants to meet a normal girl in his hometown of Austin.

After moving to Austin to be the hired girlfriend of one of her long-term escort clients, Rakell finds herself wishing she could live a normal life with an average guy. Turned off by the billionaire clients she’s been serving for the last five years, she longs to get out of the business and build a life where she doesn’t live in the shadows of her escort persona.

Their worlds collide and the spice is off the charts. “Pretty boy” Jake Skyler has met his match with saucy-mouthed, Rakell McCarthy. Both think they’ve fallen for an average person. Both are wrong! REVIEW

Amari Nylix steams up the pages in The One Who Undid Me, book one of the Austin Heat series. Jake Skylar, NFL quarterback, wants to escape the media storm surrounding his off-the-field antics. He’s done with the stream of models, actresses, and NFL cheerleaders and is desperate to meet an ordinary girl in his hometown of Austin. For Rakell McCarthy, the luster of migrating from Australia five years ago to Austin, Texas, has finally dimmed dulled. She has decided to try opting for everyday life by moving past her former lifestyle as a hired girlfriend to billionaire clients.

The pair meet at the gym and share fun banter. Each is determined to hide past secrets as they cross paths at various Austin hot spots. After a series of meetings, the sparks fly high. When they start dating and their physical connection intensifies, will their hearts be left on the sidelines, destined for disappointment?

The book provides detailed descriptions of the characters, emphasizing their sexual prowess as young adults. It also portrays secondary characters that showcase Jake’s caring nature towards friends and family. Jake and Rakell’s future is jeopardized by their reluctance to be honest. In addition to steamy scenes, The One Who Undid Me addresses various topics such as parenting an autistic child, homophobia, racism, parental judgment, drugs, and alcohol. Some of these distracting subplots, as well as the descriptions of locations and activities that seemed unnecessary fillers in the narrative, felt distracting and would be better shortened or removed to put the focus on this couple’s contemporary romance.

Readers fond of cliffhangers and long-winded spicy reads will not be disappointed in The One Who Undid Me.
