*****Love gets a chance Review by Rox Burkey
Author Tonya Penrose weaves a fun tale of love and romance from an anonymous yet generous benefactor to Halley Bowen. All legal. Totally vetted by her attorney. Some minor caveats that will make you smile. Her meeting with the attorney to discuss this windfall made me chuckle and wish I was Halley. I snipped this to share a bit of the story with you because it grabbed my attention and eyes.
“Halley sat thoughtfully. Her changing expressions mirrored her bewilderment. “Let me see if I’ve grasped this proposition. I have an opportunity to live my ideal life in a setting that I adore. I’m to find a cottage on the bay that speaks to me, priced within reason, of course, write my great romance novel, and receive an allowance to help with necessary living expenses. Oh, I’m to secure a part-time job to help offset other non-essential costs.”
“And to allow you to meet people and become a part of the town’s day-to-day doings,” Langdale confirmed.
“Yes, yes, the doings. And then we’re back to the part where I’m to find a man that I fancy so that I gain the firsthand experience…”
Author Penrose develops Halley and her sister Beth. I could imagine the two of them conspiring and providing great sibling support. The descriptions of the people and places in the seaside town of Port Royal immerse you into the story. The townspeople including Mick, Ginger, Libby, Irene, and Joe support Halley’s efforts to fulfill the stipulations she must meet. When two men become likely candidates for her affections to further her romantic experience, things get exciting.
This is a fun read with twists and turns as Halley discovers more about herself than expected. I suspect your find yourself wishing you were a part of this community. You’ll find laughter, love, adventure, and unexpected outcomes. I highly recommend this if you enjoy delightfully written romances with love dancing on the waves.
