Abigail Drake teases listeners/readers into the story. After all, no girl can resist fabulous shoes, Jimmy Choos, and fresh coffee first thing in the morning. Park Avenue movers and shakers contribute to the hustle and bustle of Park Avenue. The vivid sounds, colors, and smells delivered by masterful descriptions woven expertly bring the city to life. It is the perfect setting for an unexpected morning no one will forget.
The character development is superbly entwined in this romantic comedy. Chloe Burke is an endearing character who finds herself in the right place at the wrong time, launching into a life-changing adventure. To be clear, she breaks a shoe, crashes into a stranger, spills her boss’s coffee, and gets shot in the bum—a day in her life. Chloe’s sore bum becomes a media extravaganza of epic proportions. Yet Chloe takes every precaution to protect her family and conceal the secrets inside their penthouse. The stranger, Alex, is a prince, his bodyguard, Nico, is a hottie, and her bestie, Georgie, is a marketing genius. The unexpected, fast-paced twists in the story threads will make you laugh aloud, gasp in fear, and cry a bit.
Kasey Miracle maintains the perfect pace from start to finish. The voices are distinctive and consistent, with outstanding intonations highlighting the tension. There were no problems with the quality or delivery of the audio rendition of A Royal Pain.
Fans of romantic comedies will fall in love with the relatable characters and original story. The immersion into the audiobook brought the story to life. The only issue was the perfect ending, which made this listener beg for Book 2. Well done, Abigail Drake.
About the Author
Abigail Drake is the award-winning and bestselling author of twenty-one novels, but she didn’t start her career in writing. She writes contemporary romance, women’s fiction, and young adult fiction, and has taught workshops for many different writing organizations.
In her spare time, she blogs about her dog, Capone, and teaches writing classes for students at a local performing arts high school. About the Narrator
Kasey is a Christian voice actress, author and massive geek. When she’s not in the booth or homeschooling her son, she and her son can be found playing board games and video games, reading or writing together, watching anime and cartoons, building lego sets and battling with plastic lightsabers.
When her son was diagnosed with Autism and Dyslexic Dysgraphia, she altered her course from being an elementary school librarian and periodic on-stage actor to voiceover. This way, she can be available to give him the support he needs while contributing to projects that help others like him enjoy stories they might struggle to read. She is passionate about her work and gives her absolute best to every project
